Fall 2006 Makeup Trends
Makeup is a way to enhance your best features. This fall, there are
some stand-out makeup trends that will have you looking beautiful in
no time. Here are our picks for the most beautiful and wearable fall
2006 makeup trends to try today:
Red Lips: Red lips give you retro glamour that's always in
style. If you decide to go with red lipcolor, keep your cheeks
neutral with a swipe of peach blush and your eyes gently defined.
Brush brows and hold in place with a bit of brow gel. Sweep
champagne colored shadow over lids, line top lids with a thin
application of black liner, and finish with black mascara. For the
perfect red lips, take your skin tone into consideration. Warm skin
tones look great in yellow-based reds, while cool skin tones can
pull off blue-based reds. Always use a nude liner to prevent
lipstick from feathering and define your lip line. Or, try one of
the sheer red glosses on the market today for a sheer wash of cherry
colored shine.
False Lashes: False lashes have come a long way. The choices
on the market today are designed to naturally enhance the lashes
you've got without looking unnatural. And because so many of them
are self-adhesive, it's never been easier to flutter and flirt with
your lashes! When wearing falsies, make sure to use black liquid
liner, mascara and curl your fake lashes into your real ones for the
most natural look.
A Hint of Shimmer: To enhance your features, try a bit of
opalescent or sheer gold shimmer on cheekbones, browbones, and
painted carefully above the Cupid's bow of your lip. The shimmer
refracts light and gives the impression of fuller lips, higher
cheekbones and wider eyes.
Smoky Shadow: The smoky eye is back in fashion, with an
updated twist. Rather than using dated shades of gray and black, try
shimmering browns or dark purple to create the most modern look.
After applying dark shadows to the eyelid and crease (never the
browbone), line top and bottom lids with black liner, curl lashes
and apply two coats of black mascara. To keep this look balanced,
keep cheeks and lips defined yet neutral and soft.
Bright Liner: One way to wear bright makeup shades is with
eyeliner. Electric blue, bright purple, shimmering silver and
emerald green are all fantastic liner colors that look great paired
with a neutral beige shadow and muted cheeks and lips.
Glowing Cheeks: For a just-in-from-the-cold glow, try the new
gel blushes on the market today. Tarte Cosmetics makes a fantastic
gel blush/lip tint that comes in a variety of natural shades. For
the most authentic flush, go for a clear red, which is a shade that
suits warm and cool skin tones alike.
Dark Tips: The unexpected beauty trend this fall is that of
very dark nail polish. Nails are short, shaped into a square oval,
and adorned with polishes in shades of dark red, purple and
surprisingly, black. Even Hollywood starlets have been photographed
sporting black nails on the red carpet!
